Extension Maintenance
This maintenance may feel like a lot but once you get your routine down you will realize it isn’t as hard as it seemed at first. Promise! Have fun trying those styles you have saved to your Instagram and Pinterest, and enjoy your new hair. Please do not hesitate to text/email with any questions or concerns.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BRUSH MY EXTENSIONS?
Brush hair throughly MULTIPLE times a day. The key to successful maintenance is to brush the wefts/rows individually, so that they don’t matte and tangle.
Also, I love the wet brush brand.. even for dry hair! Always keep a firm grip at the base or top of the extensions to not yank unnecessarily.
HOW SHOULD I WASH MY HAIR?
Carefully! Do not scrub harshly around wefts. Allow your shampoo to rinse through the wefts/rows enough to give you that clean feeling. Rough scrubbing is totally not needed.
WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULD/SHOULDN’T I USE?
For the love of your natural hair and extensions.. please only use sulfate free/paraben free products.
A light weight leave in conditioner before detangling, never hurt anybody.
Daily serum or oil (as needed), goes a long way. No Moroccan Oil! Be mindful that your natural hair may have different needs than the extensions. Make sure to care fore them separately.
My favorite products include:
Unite Mr.Smith Kevin Murphy
Goldie Locks Iles Formula
Oribe Davines
CAN I BLOW DRY MY HAIR?
When blow drying do not excessively tug or pull on extensions, try to get them 80-90% dry before smoothing with a brush.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I WANT TO SWIM OR TAN?
Wear your hair in a “ballet bun” or braids while swimming or doing any windy activities. Make sure to saturate you hair with a mask before swimming in pool or ocean.
Do not use sunscreen that has Avobenzone! It will turn the extensions peach and I will not be able to get it out. Resulting in having to purchase new hair.
CAN I SLEEP WITH WET HAIR?
NEVER SLEEP WITH WET HAIR. Read that again. This will cause the extensions to matte and tangle, and result in needing to replace your hair. Sleep with a satin/silk pillow case in a low pony tail or braid.
